Our family calls him “our little guide.” He calls Fort Phantom his fishing water. Based in Hawley, Texas, Mario guides crappie trips, with catfish and hybrid trips in the mix.

Come with your people, a little curiosity, and the day ahead of you. We’ll get the tackle ready, bring the cold water, and clean and bag your fish before you head home.

Where will we fish?

Mario guides on Fort Phantom Hill Lake and is based in Hawley, Texas. There is one trip a day. The current start is shown on the booking calendar, and each open date shows its own start time. Mario meets you at the north-side boat ramp and confirms your arrival time before the trip.

How long is a trip?

Trip length varies. The group heads in when it reaches its fishing limit, wants to call it a day, or by sunset. A catch is never guaranteed.

Is it all about crappie?

Crappie is Mario's specialty. Catfish and hybrid trips are also part of his Fort Phantom Hill Lake offering. Tell him what you have in mind and plan the day together.

What does a trip cost, and what should I bring?

$250 for one angler, $150 per additional angler, up to 4 people ($700 total). Tackle, cold water, and fish cleaning and bagging are included. Bring your preferred drinks; beer is BYOB.

How does booking work?

Look through the open days on Mario’s calendar, then call Mario at 432-634-9776 and he will put your day on the books. Online deposits are opening soon.

What if the weather or my plans change?

Call Mario to talk it through. If Mario cancels for weather, you receive a full refund.
